Knowing how our brain works is useful to filter information consciously, without risky simplifications. In fact, mental “shortcuts” are used indirectly by our brain to simplify thought processes and make them less time-consuming. However, this ease can be dangerous when dealing with complex issues such as extremism and radicalisation phenomena, which instead require precise analysis.
The project is useful not only for professionals, but also for the general public, as it aims to raise awareness of how cognitive processes work and how they can compromise people’s ability to correctly assess the world and society.
