Call for Participants: Youth Empowerment for Peace – Media & Peacebuilding Training in Budapest

Are you passionate about media, journalism, and peacebuilding? Do you want to be part of a transformative experience that will equip you with the skills to promote intercultural dialogue and resolve conflicts through media?

The Youth Empowerment for Peace project (in a cooperation between Subjective Values Foundation and UNITED for Intercultural Action with the support of the European Youth Foundation) invites applications for a five-day intensive training camp in Budapest, taking place from May 19-24, 2025. The training focuses on conflict resolution, intercultural dialogue, and creative media techniques to empower young media professionals to foster peace and inclusion.

Who Can Apply?

We are looking for participants who:

  • Are under 30 years old
  • Are currently studying or working in a media-related field (e.g., journalism, communications, media production, etc.)
  • Have an interest in conflict transformation, peacebuilding, and intercultural dialogue
  • Are eager to learn and create media content that promotes social inclusion, combats hate speech, and fosters understanding across cultures

What to Expect

During the training, you will:

  • Participate in conflict transformation workshops, focusing on non-violent communication and mediation skills
  • Engage in intercultural dialogue sessions, learning how media can either promote or hinder cultural understanding
  • Create media content for peacebuilding, including articles, short films, and other creative media projects to be shared widely through various platforms
  • Learn from experienced trainers and mentors who are experts in media, human rights, and conflict resolution

  • The training will be held in Budapest from May 19-24, 2025.
  • The participation is free, accommodation and meals during the event are covered by a grant
  • You are expected to cover your international travel costs; however, if you require financial assistance, we may be able to contribute—please see the application form for more details.
  • We aim to create a diverse group of participants, with a special focus on gender equality and the inclusion of marginalized communities.
