What is the core idea of the project?
This international activity will have a non-formal educational approach by using art-based methods in order to tackle the topics of (online) hate speech, human rights, peacebuilding, democratic values and inclusive coliving, countering fake news. The main goal is to raise awareness and educate young artists, or those interested in art, those who are active in their communities, or have the potential to identify issues regarding these topics in their own realities, so that they could bring back the knowledge and can act as multipliers for raising awareness on how to live together in peaceful and inclusive societies and how to access their rights. The participants will be empowered to identify, acknowledge, act, and potentially impact.
We wish to provide an outstanding opportunity for young people from all over Europe to get an overall picture of the available theories, methodologies and practical tools relevant in their work as well as to learn one specific method that is less known, innovative and very effective according to our experiences. At the same time, we wish to create a supportive environment for the participants to make their own truly personal and sincere self-reflection on their own local realities, challenges and problems so that on one hand they get a better understanding of their own life, and on the other hand they can step forward and build the next stages of their contribution to society as active citizens. The process would start with a more distant approach, then, based on interest and relevance, the course will focus on personalised and current issues. By this the participants will be prepared for the implementation of an ACTion! in their local environment after the project.
Please note that this is not an art residency, although we will use art-based non-formal educational methods during the training course.
What results are we aiming for?
To make the implementation successful, participants will learn to identify the issues of their local environment – that might be a global one-, realising the need for change, and then use the tools we offer to provide a solution to the problem they have discovered. In addition, an important goal beyond the solution is community building, which helps participants act as multiplayers to organise an art-based awareness-raising action to take this knowledge back to their communities and implement it locally. Our initiative focuses mainly on solving local, sometimes national problems to make a positive difference in the lives of local communities.
Participants will be able to apply the knowledge and conclusions generated here in their own lives individually and to implement them in their organisations and/or in their local communities. They will be the ambassadors of the knowledge acquired during the training, in order to disseminate the results as widely as possible to a larger audience.
